Let me guess. You’re stressed, right? In fact, reading this is perhaps the first time you’ve made for yourself all day. And you’re only doing it because … well, it’s really about work, right? So it’s OK to read this. (As opposed to all the other things that would bring you joy – those aren’t OK, right? Ahem.)
Yoga Journal has published on its website an incredibly helpful article written by Dr. Robert Cole about the effects of stress on the body. Sounds boring, right? Just give that article a chance, though: Dr. Cole has presented the subject in the form of a cautionary tale about Sally Stresscase.
OK, it’s a bit cheesy, but it helps explain the complex physiological processes at work behind what we offhandedly refer to as “stress” in a clear, conversational tone. Maybe it will serve as a wakeup call for stressed solos out there — it certainly woke me up! Time to break out the yoga mat again …
