Just got word from Larry Staton, a NC colleague with much scripting (programming) experience in the context of his legal practice. Larry has amazing news, which I’ll let him share in his own words:
Today I launched a new blog titled, “Scripting for Lawyers“. As the title implies, the site will explore all facts of scripting your workflows using AppleScript and other scripting languages. I plan to post entries about scripting applications such as FileMaker Pro, Microsoft Word, Bee Docs’ Timeline, Mail, iCal, and other apps used by attorneys and other professionals. We’ll take things one step at a time and I’ll include screencasts and sample scripts to enhance your learning.
So, follow along with the conversation at Scripting For Lawyers. Better yet, join in with your suggestions, comments, and feedback. I’m looking forward to the journey.
Scripting — and don’t let its nature as essentially “short computer programs” scare you off — is a powerful tool to help streamline your workday. But learning it can be daunting, as I can attest. An approach like Larry’s — in blog format, bit by bit, with visual aids — is really special and will, I feel sure, make the experience much easier. So join me at Larry’s new blog and learn how to streamline your workday. (Note: this is geared mostly towards Mac users. One more reason to switch!)
